WhatsApp announced today that it provides a dark mode for iOS and Android users, which can reduce eye fatigue in low light environments.
WhatsApp’s dark mode has been tested for some time.
When designing dark mode, the WhatsApp team focused on:
Readability: When choosing a color, you want to minimize eye fatigue and use colors that are close to the iPhone and Android system defaults, respectively.
Information hierarchy: wants to help users easily focus on each screen. Make sure your most important information stands out by using colors and other design elements.
Here’s how to enable Dark Mode on WhatsApp:
By enabling dark mode in system settings, users on Android 10 and iOS 13 can use dark mode.
Users on Android 9 and below can go to WhatsApp Settings> Chat> Themes> select “Dark”.
On iOS, this latest update comes with new search options that let you filter by author and content type.
