Vivo NEX 3S 5G and iQOO 3 getting Android 11 Beta

1. Overview of the plan

Welcome to join the Vivo Android 11 Developer Preview Program. This program will provide developers with a preview version suitable for the next-generation Android system to improve the compatibility of your applications and prepare for Android 11.

Hardware and system

  • The developer preview version can be run and tested on both iQOO3 and Vivo NEX 3S device systems.

Version update

  • vivo Android 11 developer preview version update plan:
  • Android 11 Beta 1 will be released in mid-June 2020;
  • Android 11 Beta 2 will be released in late July 2020;
  • After the official version of Android 11 is released, we will remove the developer preview version.

Development and testing

If you are developing and testing in vivo Android 11 Developer Preview, you will be able to test your application against new software changes. Please refer to the migration guide for simple steps to make the application compatible with the new platform.

2. Get the developer preview version of Vivo Android 11

You can download the software package firmware of iQOO3/vivo NEX 3S device here, and then upgrade and test your application.

2.1 Download Android 11 developer preview version firmware

You can obtain Vivo Android 11 developer preview version firmware for development and testing in the following ways:

2.2 Upgrade Android 11 developer preview version

You can download the downloaded developer preview version of the package firmware and follow the steps below to burn it to the corresponding Vivo device. The steps of manually writing firmware take IQOO3 export 5G as an example, as follows:

  • Download iQOO3 developer preview version software package firmware.
  • After the device is connected to the computer, switch the USB setting of the mobile phone to the file transfer mode, and copy the downloaded software package firmware to the root directory of the iQOO3 mobile phone storage.

  • Click the upgrade package in the file management according to the above steps, and start the upgrade after the verification is completed.
  • Wait for the phone’s automatic upgrade to complete.

Note: Installing the system version firmware on the Vivo device will clear all data in the device, so be sure to back up the data first.

2.3 Uninstall Android 11 Developer Preview Version

If you have manually upgraded to the developer preview version of iQOO 3/vivo NEX 3S, please download the following upgrade package firmware, then upgrade and uninstall the developer preview version. The upgrade steps are the same as the installation.

You can download and uninstall the software package firmware of the developer preview version, and follow the steps below to flash to the corresponding Vivo device. The steps of manually writing firmware take iQOO3 as an example, as follows:

  • Download iQOO3 and uninstall the developer preview software package firmware.
  • After the device is connected to the computer, switch the USB setting of the mobile phone to the file transfer mode, and copy the downloaded software package firmware to the root directory of the iQOO3 developer preview softphone storage.

  • Follow the above steps, click on the software package during a system upgrade, and after the verification is complete, you can start uninstalling the developer preview version.
  • Wait for the mobile phone to uninstall the developer preview version.

Note: Please do not try to download the upgrade package in other ways. Before uninstalling the developer preview version, please make sure to back up user data and clear all fingerprint data at the same time (uncleared fingerprints will make fingerprints unusable).

3. Known issues

  • The off-screen fingerprint function cannot be used.
  • The front lift camera is not available.
  • The status bar display is abnormal: the camera hole and the rounded corner of the screen overlap the position of the status bar icon.
  • The first time you start the Chrome browser, the “Turn on sync?” interface does not display the existing Google account login information.
  • In the settings, the last item is About an emulated device, not About device.
  • There are 2 system upgrade pages in the settings (one in “Settings> System update” and the other in “Settings> System> Advanced> System update”), users may be confused.

4. Feedback
