Panasonic will increase battery supply to Tesla by 10% by 2024

With the continuous development of electric vehicles, more and more users choose to buy electric vehicles, but the current production supply is difficult to meet the huge market demand, therefore, improving the supply capacity has become the entire industry chain.

Panasonic will increase the supply of electric car batteries to Tesla by about 10% by 2024, Nikkei reported yesterday. In July of this year, Panasonic announced that it will build a second electric vehicle battery factory in Kansas, USA, which may provide Tesla with 4680 batteries. But in Panasonic’s plan, the factory will not be opened until 2024 at the earliest, so Panasonic can only meet Tesla’s huge battery demand by improving existing facilities.

Panasonic is reportedly planning to send production supervisors to the Nevada Gigafactory to improve factory productivity. In June of this year, Panasonic dispatched dozens of workers to the Nevada super battery factory to provide training and guidance to factory employees. The final production capacity of the Nevada Gigafactory is expected to be around 43GWh per year, the report said.

Thanks to Panasonic’s efforts, the production of 2170 batteries at the Nevada Gigafactory may increase significantly to ensure the supply of batteries for Tesla’s Model 3 and other models. It is worth mentioning that Musk has previously stated that Tesla already has enough 2170 battery supply.
