Judge orders Twitter to hand over documents of ex-executives counting fake accounts to Musk

A U.S. judge has ordered Twitter to hand over documents to Musk of a former executive who was a key figure in tallying Twitter’s fake accounts. The judge ordered Twitter to collect, evaluate and produce documents based on content from former consumer products general manager Kayvon Beykpour, according to the court order. Lawyers for Twitter and Musk have not responded.

After Twitter agreed to the acquisition in April, Baker left the company, which Musk believed was deeply involved in decision-making about spam accounts. Musk also requested access to 21 other individuals with relevant information, but the judge denied Musk’s request.

Last week, Musk’s legal team sent a letter to the judge, asking the judge to order Twitter to hand over the list of people involved so that it could be easier for Musk to question. Musk believed the fake account data provided by Twitter was inaccurate and canceled the deal. Twitter is suing Musk, arguing that Musk breached the agreement, and Twitter wants a judge to order Musk to close the deal at $54.20 per share.
