Nothing Phone (1): That’s when Android 13 will arrive

To date, very few can boast of having received the update to Android 13, and Nothing Phone (1) is not one of them. If we exclude the models of the Google Pixel series and the latest top of the OPPO range, all the other main manufacturers are still in beta testing, even if the stable release shouldn’t be long. Google has officially unveiled its new major update (and all its news ), and there are those who wonder when the first non-Nokia smartphone will receive this update.

It didn’t take long for someone to reply to Carl Pei’s latest tweets, promoting the release of updates received from Nothing Phone (1). Since its debut on sale, the first Nothing smartphone has received three updates of the Nothing OS, the proprietary interface that characterized it; these updates refined the overall experience, with improvements to the display, charging, and camera. The company has stated that the smartphone will receive 3 years of Android updates (and 4 for the bi-monthly security patches), but how long will we have to wait for Android 13?

The update to Android 13 for Nothing Phone (1) could take longer than expected

When asked “Do you have any idea when Android 13 will arrive?”, Carl Pei’s response was as follows: ” A product is more than its specifications, functions, and software versions.” A non-response in all respects, which can be translated into the desire not to be in a hurry to update to the latest version of Android available. On the other hand, we are talking about a newborn company, which does not have a software development team that can be considered on par with a large company and therefore cannot guarantee the same speed.

But it is also true that the same answer could have been formulated in a less seemingly acidic way, also because the community’s response was not long in making itself heard under his tweet. Not to mention the fact that Nothing OS is a little more than the stock version of Android and therefore does not require the same amount of work as an MIUI or a One UI, so to speak. And I’m pretty sure that those who bought Nothing Phone did it for this too, in the hope that such lean software could translate into fairly quick timelines for the release of Android updates.
