Microsoft Edge: Prohibits YouTube video viewing from AdBlock users

Microsoft Edge is the browser created for Windows 10; Edge replaces Internet Explorer (IE), the browser that debuted with Windows 95, and was a part of Windows operating systems for the following two decades. However, IE is also included in Windows 10 for communication compatibility, particularly within the enterprise.

Most clients decide to utilize an adblocker to maintain a strategic distance from advertisements on any site. However, it appears that Microsoft Edge can’t help contradicting this strategy, particularly with respect to the YouTube page.

It only works with AdBlock, but with all browser versions

A portion of users has found that if you use AdBlock or AdBlock Plus and try to watch a video on YouTube, Microsoft Edge blocks playback. In addition, a black background with the error message “An error occurred. Please try again later”.The issue was brought to the attention of users of Microsoft’s Tech Community. Following complaints from users, the company said it was aware that its browser was experiencing the problem.

In addition, the company stated that it does not matter which version of Microsoft Edge the user or the distribution channel to which the browser version belongs. The distribution channel is related to whether the version is Developer, Canary, Beta, or Stable.

Finally, the tech giant said it was looking into the matter and hoped to find a solution. Until then, Microsoft Edge users will simply need to disable AdBlock on YouTube.
