iOS 14: Google Gmail can now be set as default mail application

Apple on September 16 introduced the latest iOS operating system, iOS 14, it comes with a bunch of new features including UI, Widgets, and more. Apple iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 now allow users to set Google Gmail as the default mail application in iOS devices/iPad devices.

Users can open the “Settings” application, scroll down to Gmail in the application list, and select “Default Mail Application” to set Gmail as the default email application on ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌‌.

Apart from the mail application now you can also set Google Chrome as the default browser in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to replace Safari on iPhone and iPad.

MacRumors pointed out that it should be noted that there is a bug that will reset the default apps that replace Safari and Mail when the device is restarted. Therefore, when users restart the iPhone, they may need to reset Gmail as the default email application until Apple fixes it.

Meanwhile, after the Five days, Apple released iOS 14, adoption of the software update has reached approximately 26 percent of active iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, according to mobile analytics company Mixpanel. This includes iPadOS 14 – MacRumors first spotted the iOS 14 adoption rate on Monday.
