Due to coronavirus Google Play Store takes over 7 days to evaluate applications

Google warns developers that evaluating their applications may take longer than usual, due to coronavirus. New or older app reviews will now be made in 7 or more days.

According to a statement from the company at Android Police, the reason for the evaluations being increased is the adjustments made to the employee plan.

What was so far
In the past, Google’s app evaluation took between three and seven days. Cases, where the evaluation of an application was completed within 7 days, were extremely rare.

Until now, all applications were evaluated before they were released and always before any new updates were available. The above applies exclusively to apps aimed at children.

For now, the source doesn’t mention which applications will need to be re-evaluated if they are already available on the Google Play Store.

Despite what was sometimes the case, and for no apparent reason, the company was even evaluating general content applications before allowing any updates.

In addition, whether or not they have already been released to the Google Play Store, applications that request access to location data always go through an evaluation.

What impact will the new evaluation program have?
It is logical that the number of applications is large and due to the adjustments in the employee schedule, critical security updates may take a long time to become available. This could have a significant impact on the safety of users.

So we need to be careful as Android users, and when any updates are available we should download it immediately. This rule applies in any case but is more important at this time. For more information stay tuned with us, we will update you soon.
