It’s that time of the year: Google has released Android 13, and the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones are starting to officially update. However, not all Xiaomi smartphone owners will be able to benefit from the innovations introduced by Google’s latest major update. Like many other smartphone manufacturers in circulation, the Xiaomi catalog also suffers from the fragmentation that afflicts the Android world so much. Fortunately, Google’s mobile OS offers some flexibility, and the modding community takes advantage of this to create custom ROMs that can carry Android 13, even on older models.
Here are which Xiaomi smartphones can be updated thanks to custom ROMs with Android 13.0:
As you can see in this article, a portion of the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones in the world will receive the update to Android 13. Especially if you have a model launched on the market in 2019 or earlier, there is a high chance that the Android update will stop at a version prior to the 13th. I refer, for example, to the Xiaomi Mi 9 family, to the Redmi Note 9 family, or to very popular but dated models such as the POCO F1 and the like. But since we are also talking about devices out of warranty, thanks to the world of modding, it is possible to circumvent this limit and act manually.
But be careful: since we are talking about custom ROMs, you need to unlock the bootloader and have a TWRP custom recovery to install them. Below you will find the list of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones for which at least one custom ROM based on Android 13 is available, with its own thread for download links, bugs, and feedback.
