Some Apple Watch users report GPS data loss after updating to watchOS 7

According to the 9to5Mac, some Apple Watch users reported that GPS data was lost after updating to watchOS 7. When recording an exercise, only the starting point is recorded.

Related posts appeared in Apple’s support community. Judging from the number of posts, this problem does not seem to affect a large number of users, but for some people, the problem does exist.

Some users reported that when using Apple Watch without iPhone to record exercise, there is no GPS route data, only the starting point is recorded. After communicating with the staff of Apple’s support department, they suggested to close/restore several related privacy settings, but the problem still exists without a mobile phone.

These posts cover all Apple Watch Series 3, 4, and 5 watches that support the update of watchOS 7. Some users say that Apple has told them this is a problem with the Strava app, but others say that multiple apps have the same problem.

Some users have solved this problem by unpairing and re-pairing the watch, but another user said that doing so will make the problem even greater and lose the existing data of the application.
