Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2 and Project Zodiac revealed by kernel code

Shortly after the release of the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung also released the kernel source code for all three flagship phones. With interesting insights.

By tapping into the kernel code, developers and advanced users can unlock the full potential of their smartphones. It is the core of every system and controls everything, including how the CPU works.

Now the xda developers have succeeded in finding evidence for future Samsung phones after digging through the kernel code of the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip. There were references to what they thought of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy Fold 2. And also references to a mysterious new device called the Zodiac.

Files for three different series – “Project XYZ”, “Project Canvas” and “Project Winner2” – were discovered in the code. The xda developers found that “Project XYZ” refers to the three different Samsung Galaxy S20 models, with each letter representing one of the models.

“Project Canvas” and “Project Winner2” are most likely the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2. This is because the name “Project C” was previously associated with Note 20, while “Project Winner” was the name of the first Galaxy Fold was. The code name “Winner2” for Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 was also previously confirmed by the GalaxyClub.

In addition, both “Project Winner2” and “Project Canvas” were associated with “kona”, a code name for the Snapdragon 865. It’s pretty obvious that the Fold 2 and Note 20 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 865.

Zodiac project

The kernel code for the Galaxy Z Flip also found references to a third mysterious device with the code name “Zodiac”. The device is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. It may be a phone that is only available in China, but the xda developers could not reveal any further details in this regard.

But it could also be just a development device, we don’t know that exactly.
