Leaked that OnePlus is developing a smart watch

This year, OnePlus launched OnePlus Nord, which is the brand’s first mid-range smartphone since the OnePlus X in 2015, but the latest news confirms that this product will not be sold in mainland China.

However, the launch of Nord marks a shift in OnePlus’ strategy: manufacturing cost-effective smartphones. However, in addition to smartphones, OnePlus has launched OnePlus Buds headsets, OnePlus TV smart TVs, and other products, offering a diversified product portfolio. Currently, OnePlus seems to be planning to take a share in the smartwatch market.

A few days ago, a device called “OnePlus Watch” appeared on the website of Indonesia’s IMDA regulator. According to this list, the model name of this device is W301GB, other than that no more information, such as specifications, software, or design, is disclosed. It is reported that it is likely to run Google’s Wear operating system and be equipped with Snapdragon Wear chips, which may be the recently announced Snapdragon Wear 4100.

As early as 2016, OnePlus confirmed that the company was developing smartwatches. That year, OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu said that OnePlus had completed the smartwatch design, but decided to shelve it. Therefore, they have spent a lot of time on smartwatches, and now they are satisfied with the development of wearable technology in the industry. It is worth noting that their parent company OPPO has launched their smartwatch OPPO Watch, and on the IMDA website, the “supplier” listed for OnePlus smartwatches is “SINOPPEL DEVICE PTE.LTD”, and its predecessor is “SINGAPORE OPPO ELECTRONICS PTE. LTD.”, which means that OnePlus smartwatch may be associated with OPPO Watch.

OnePlus smartwatch may be released at the same time as the regular update product OnePlus 8T in the second half of the year, but the specific situation is still unknown.
