iPhone 12 Pro: Two models may be equipped with 120Hz screen

According to sources, Apple’s upcoming “iPhone 12 Pro” and “‌iPhone 12‌ Pro Max” will have a screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, thus providing a smoother screen experience.

Ice Universe tweeted this morning: “Reliable sources, if no accidents have occurred, ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro and ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro Max have basically determined a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.”

Related to this, the accessibility settings of the iOS 14 Developer Beta show that the device’s frame rate can be limited to 60 frames per second. This setting (not available for all Beta users) indicates that future iPhones may have a higher refresh rate. The current maximum refresh rate of the iPhone is 60Hz. Apple has used variable refresh rate technology in its iPad Pro models, but they still use LCD panels instead of OLEDs.

Apple uses the name “ProMotion” to promote the iPad Pro’s proprietary technology, which can dynamically adjust the screen according to the movement of the content to achieve smooth scrolling and faster response speed. It can perform all operations instantly, thus saving battery power.

Another leaker Max Weinbach also hinted that the rumored 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro series will be equipped with a high refresh rate 120Hz ProMotion screen.
