Huawei new patent show side touch camera

Huawei’s new flagship Mate 40 series is expected to be released around October. Last year, the Mate 30 series was equipped with a number of innovative features, including an 88-degree curved screen and a virtual volume button. These buttons are located on the screen. Edge replaced the physical button.

According to the Dutch technology blog letsgodigital, on July 6, 2019, Huawei submitted a design patent application to the State Intellectual Property Office and announced it to the outside world on June 16, 2020. We know that Huawei Mate 30 already supports the side virtual shutter Function, but this patent hints that Huawei Mate 40 series may go further and integrate some other camera functions to the side of the screen.

The patent includes about 10 production pictures and brief descriptions, as well as color pictures. The mobile phone in the picture shows that this is a Huawei smartphone with a modern design. It uses a curved display and a dual front camera. The dual-camera module is very small.

The design patent mainly concerns the user UI of the camera, which is on the side of the edged screen. One set of UI schemes contains many virtual buttons for camera control, including icons (+ and -) for adjusting parameters, flash, filter selection, and white balance settings. In addition, a conversion icon has been added to switch between the front and rear camera lenses. The last icon is the shutter button.

There is another set of options, starting with a parameter setting icon (+ and -), as well as HDR, flash, white balance, and gallery icons.

Huawei usually launches Mate smartphones around September and October. The specific release date of the Mate 40 series is currently unknown, but a similar strategy is expected.
