Facebook adds a shopping section in its App, looking to increase e-commerce business

Facebook brings a new change in its App, the company has now added a shopping section in its home page to increase its e-commerce business. This new section is called Facebook Shop, and it will be launched nationwide from Tuesday.

Users can browse the categories published by merchants through this section and interested users can directly purchase anything. The company has previously tested this section for a small number of US users and launched a similar feature on the Instagram photo-sharing app last month.

Merchants have been able to add products to their Facebook homepage before, but there is no dedicated section in Facebook’s app for browsing content posted by many merchants.

Facebook is increasing its expansion in the field of e-commerce, hoping to promote the company’s targeted advertising business and expand more sources of income beyond the advertising business.

Instagram product director Vishal Shah (Vishal Shah) said that when a user completes a transaction on Facebook, Facebook usually draws a certain commission from it, but the commission was suspended during the epidemic. E-commerce can promote Facebook’s advertising business, facilitate marketers to create sales through advertising, thereby improving advertising effectiveness.
