Apple AirPods Pro 2 will support lossless sound quality, Bluetooth audio gets its first major upgrade in 10 years

The current news says that Apple will hold a fall conference on September 7. In addition to the high-profile iPhone 14 series of mobile phones, this time it will also launch AirPods Pro 2 wireless headphones, which is a major upgrade for the series in three years. They will be the first to support the Bluetooth LE Audio standard.

The Bluetooth wireless standard has been iterated many times over the past 10 years. However, this Bluetooth LE audio can be said to be the first major upgrade in 10 years. It is the most important milestone in the Bluetooth audio industry in the past decade, and it will greatly change the personal and enterprise wireless audio service model.

This is a new audio architecture that brings multiple upgrades such as higher sound quality, lower power consumption, lower latency, and support for broadcast audio. At present, the LE Audio standard is unanimously supported by the two major mobile phone camps. For Apple, the AirPods Pro 2, which will be unveiled at the autumn conference on September 7, will adopt the new encoding format LC3 of the LE Audio standard, becoming Appleā€™s first headset that supports lossless music.

On the Android side, Google announced last week that one of the major upgrades to Android 13 is support for LE Audio encoding.
