A small change coming to YouTube on Android

YouTube is undoubtedly one of the most popular services among those offered by Google and this is even if it is not one of those to which the developers of the Mountain View giant devote the most attention. In any case, even YouTube from time to time is the protagonist of some changes or the introduction of new features and the latter could include news relating to the design of the application dedicated to Android devices.

Currently in the YouTube app for Android, at the top of the homepage, there is an Explore button that, when tapped, takes users to a dedicated page where they can find new content to watch.

Here’s how the YouTube app on Android could change

Well, it seems that the Explore tab may disappear in a future app update, or at least this is what a test that the Google developers are carrying out suggests and among the changes, there is also the removal of this tab. The categories of the videos are essentially the same as when you tap the Explore tab in the current version of YouTube, except that users with that new system will be able to access them from the side.

This panel includes the Trending, Music, Movies, Live, Games and Sports categories. At the moment it is not clear what the objective of this change is, as overall users should still take at least one action before they can have access to these categories (so it should not have to do with an improvement in efficiency).

It also seems that the YouTube team has thought of a way during its tests to make this panel work with a special gesture (holding down the left side and scrolling towards the center). At the moment there is no information on when this novelty could be introduced.
