Overwatch: Precise date of the final closure of the game announced

As we know, the arrival of Overwatch 2 also means the definitive closure of the first Overwatch, however, the conclusion of the first will not happen precisely at the same time as the launch of the second, with Blizzard having specified a precise date regarding the end of the first Overwatch.

According to reports from the developers, the closing date of Overwatch will be October 2, 2022, although this depends on the time zone, which therefore could mean October 3 in some areas.

“About a day before the launch of Overwatch 2, we will shut down the Overwatch 1 servers,” Blizzard’s Jon Spector told Eurogamer.net.

“This means, from a practical point of view, that October 2 is truly the last day that Overwatch 1 will be playable. There will then be a downtime period of approximately 27 hours that we have planned to fix the launch of the servers. Overwatch 2, which will happen soon after”.

Plus, those who switch between them will be able to do so fairly smoothly: “We’ll be giving current Overwatch players the option to download Overwatch 2 a bit before launch if they want to pre-load. There are a couple of them as well. of things we will ask players to do to better prepare themselves, “Spector explained. “We will share a kind of launch list, which will tell users what to do to be ready for Overwatch 2, so that we can make a smooth transition as early as October 4th, when we launch the game.”

We already knew Overwatch 2 would replace the first Overwatch, but apparently, there will be a transition period between one and the other. In the meantime, we have received details on the free and premium Battle Pass, with content, price and operation of the system.
