Samsung’s transparent smartphone patent

Although technology shows us that the future of smartphones will be foldable screens, with the opportunities they offer but also with the form-factors that can be created by using them, Samsung seems to be working on another strange idea, which reminds us of something.

According to LetsGoDigital, we see that Samsung is working on a completely transparent smartphone, with the only covered parts being the perimeter bezels.

Obviously this raises many questions, not only about the usability of such a device but also about how the company will be able to eliminate components such as the battery and the board, but like all patents we may never see this device on the market. Let’s not forget that there is a device that was actually released on the market with a transparent screen: the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness X5.

The device had enough space underneath to fit the components, as it had a keyboard, but its screen was really transparent. Of course, as then, we can not find any practical reason for the existence of such a device, unless the user can choose how transparent he wants the glass to be.
