Samsung will launch the Galaxy Fold 2 foldable phone in a few months. It has been reported that the new device will increase the size of the display and may use ultra-thin glass (UTG).
A new report from South Korean media revealed some key specifications of the Galaxy Fold 2 display. According to reports, the Galaxy Fold 2 will use a 7.7-inch internal display, which is 0.4 inches larger than the Galaxy Fold’s 7.3-inch display. However, the external display will jump from the Galaxy Fold’s 4.6 inches to the Galaxy Fold 2’s 6.23 inches.
The resolution of the 7.7-inch display will be 2213×1689, and the aspect ratio will be 11.8:9. Liu Hai will be replaced by punching. The 6.23-inch external display will have a resolution of 2267×819, an aspect ratio of 24.9:9, and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The front camera will also use a hole punching method.
More importantly, the 7.7-inch screen of the Galaxy Fold 2 also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung first introduced a 120Hz display in the Galaxy S20 series, which is “difficult to use once.”
The Galaxy Z Flip is equipped with ultra-thin glass, making it the world’s first smartphone with a foldable glass display. This report also confirmed that Samsung will bring the same display technology to the Galaxy Fold 2.
The report also mentioned that Samsung plans to produce about 3 million Galaxy Fold 2 and has already begun ordering parts for the device, which is expected to begin production in July. According to reports, Samsung will aim to produce 300,000 Galaxy Fold 2 units per month.
Galaxy Fold 2 will be unveiled together with Galaxy Note 20 at the online Unpacked event on August 5. It is also reported that these two devices will be available on August 20.
