Samsung Exynos 1080 is the first 5nm chip with Cortex-A78 and Mali-G78 GPU

On October 9, Samsung researcher unveiled the new Exynos 1080 SoC, which is the company’s latest chipset that is built on the 5nm process also it surpasses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ in AnTuTu.

As we know that the next generation of smartphones will feature the new 5nm chips, which include Apple A14, Snapdragon 875, Kirin 9000, and even Exynos. Samsung Semiconductor China Research Institute director Dr. Pan Xuebao revealed in an interview that it will soon be launching its latest Exynos 1080 SoC.

The Exynos 1080 will feature Cortex-A78 cores. According to ARM’s official numbers, the A78 running at 2.1 GHz can deliver 20% more performance in the same power envelope than an A77 at 2.3 GHz.

The company’s official also revealed the AnTuTu scores of the new Exynos 1080 chipset during the interview. He stated that the device scored over 650,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark, which is higher than the scores achieved by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+.

According to the latest rumors, the Exynos 2100, the successor to the Exynos 990 that will power some Galaxy S21 models early next year.
