Samsung showcases its foldable phone to limited audience at CES 2019
More news has come from CES 2019 which is currently taking place in Las Vegas right now. Although there aren’t many phone announcements coming from there, some companies have still managed to pull some surprises out of their sleeves.
The Korean media announced that Samsung showcased its foldable phone exclusively to customers behind closed doors as the phone is not yet ready to make a global appearance because if a few structural issues with its folding process.
A company executive told customers that the device is completely flat when unfolded but unfortunately when you try to fold it, the phone will break. Therefore the prototype demoed was seen with a crease mark when in a single-hand mode. The issue is deemed to be fixed for production units according to the executive.
Samsung plans to launch the phone in H1 2019, but with only 1 million manufactured units, which would mean the phone would have limited availability.
Equipped with the latest flexible display and battery technology, Samsung has declared the price of the phone at around KRW1.5 million, which is about $1,350.
