Game of the year awards 2018

Game of the Year Award 2018

The Games Awards show which held on the 6th of December 2018, brought the most prestigious honor in the gaming industry to an end.

The events took everyone by surprise when the winner of the Game of the Year award was revealed. This particular category was full of high-profile and record-breaking titles such as, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, God of war 4, Celeste, Marvel's Spider-Man, Monster Hunter: World and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Competition was really high, especially with installments like Assassin's creed Odyssey and Rockstar's smash hit, Red dead Redemption 2. Both were both responsible for placing high stakes on the award.

It was speculated that Red dead would be taking the award home because it won Best Narrative award even after God of War was universally praised for its writing and story. In the end, Kartos and his boy fought back and the GOTY award was given to Sony's heavy hitter God of War 4.

In my opinion, GOW 4 was one true gaming experience that was released during the infamous gaming drought. It also managed to bring back the idea of a single player campaign experience and rebooted a classic triple A hit title.

God of war 4 was a sudden change of a saga with an amazing artistic direction and great graphics as well. In addition, the new game brings back that growth, as if it was a direct sequel from its original and an alternate universe. There is little to no mention about God of War 2-3 events in the new game, and this is a good thing.

This installment also ignited a new series and set the bar for quality games for the rest of the year. It reminded everyone that video games can be amazingly fun exciting and entertaining. It won the hearts of its fans and voters because it occupied a whole other level of its own.

Overall, GOW deserved the award even if its just for having an amazing story, top notch gameplay, and the fantastic cinematography of its cut-scenes that is packed with replay-ability.

Congratulations to the team.
