Nvidia acquires ARM for $40 billion

A few hours ago Nvidia announced that it is acquiring ARM Limited from Softbank for $40 billion. It is the largest semiconductor company acquisition (semiconductors) and the second largest in history after the acquisition of EMC by Dell with 64 bn.

The ARM has cooperation agreements with companies such as Apple, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Amazon among other remains to be seen how they will react after the announcement of the acquisition.

Softbank will hold less than 10%, which means that Nvidia will have full control of ARM. The IoT services department will remain in the hands of Softbank. Completion of the acquisition will be subject to the approval of the US regulatory authority and may be delayed for up to 18 months.
