Nokia announces development of 5G chips

According to foreign media reports, Nokia announced on Monday that it will cooperate with Broadcom to develop 5G chips.

The scope of cooperation includes new custom processors that will be integrated into Nokia’s “5G powered by ReefShark” portfolio.

Nokia said that deploying the ReefShark chipset will enable 5G operators to benefit from the reduction in volume and energy consumption, while also improving capacity and overall performance while reducing total cost of ownership.

Nokia also said that this collaboration will further expand the scope of the Nokia ReefShark chipset for 5G solutions and will improve the system performance and energy consumption of 5G networks.

At the close on Monday, Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) shares rose 1.28% to US$304.09, with a total market value of approximately US$122.301 billion. Nokia (NYSE: NOK) shares rose 1.9% to US$4.28, with a total market value of approximately US$24.199 billion.
