Microsoft will disable co-editing chat access in office 365 apps

Microsoft introduced the ability of the Office’s collaborative editors to chat with each other. Users can immediately communicate with others while using this feature, for example, by asking a quick question or dividing sections in collaborative editing.

Microsoft said today for Office 365 customers, that they will disable collaborative editing of chat access within Office applications on the Web, Windows, and Mac for weeks from mid-April. Microsoft recommends that users switch to Microsoft Teams when they want to communicate with each other.

The ability to attach comments to specific selections in the document is still available. This feature is accessible from the Review tab on the ribbon. Comments added in this way are saved with the document and can be answered, marked as complete, or deleted.
