iPhone 12: They won’t have a BOE screen at least their first batch

From the iPhone X onwards, Apple has incorporated OLED technology screens from Samsung’s more expensive models. Last year we were expecting the first iPhones with OLED screens from BOE, something that didn’t happen, but probably things won’t change this year either.

According to sources on the Chinese website MyDrivers, Samsung will be responsible for at least 80% of the OLED screens that will be integrated into the models of the iPhone 12. The reason is that BOE could not pass the Apple quality tests, something that the company since August last year. As a result, Apple has relied on Samsung’s more expensive but more reliable screens for another year.

However, the source states that only the first batch of the iPhone 12 will come with Samsung screens. If the company meets Apple’s expectations and launches production soon, future iPhone 12 devices will incorporate BOE screens. Of course, the company has lost a lot of time with the problems caused by COVID-19, so we’ll have to see how it all goes.

Remember that Apple and BOE have a pretty good relationship, with the former using mainly BOE and LG screens in its smartwatches. In fact, their collaboration is expected to continue with the arrival of the Apple Watch Series 6, which we are waiting for along with the upcoming iPhones.
