Huawei will release 5nm Kirin 9000 this month

According to the reports, Huawei will release the Kirin 9000 processor this month, and it can be seen as an upgraded version of the Kirin 990 5G, which is also based on TSMC’s 5nm process.

As the first model of Kirin 9000, the new report mentioned that the Mate 40 series will be powered by Huawei’s new 5nm flagship chip as standard, and this model will include Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Mate 40 Pro+.

Previously, the Industry chain reported that TSMC will not be able to have any business dealings with Huawei on September 15, which also means that TSMC cannot continue to manufacture Kirin processors.

According to sources in the supply chain, Huawei delivered 15 million orders to TSMC. However, due to production time constraints, the orders were not fully completed before production was stopped, and ultimately only 8.8 million.

At the 2020 Summit of the China Information Technology Association in August, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong delivered a speech saying that the Kirin chip on Mate 40 may be the last generation of Huawei’s self-produced, and the flagship chip of Kirin will be out of print.

The current situation is that if the ban is not relaxed, the Kirin 9000 processor that was previously stocked will not be recharged after exhaustion.
