Here are the Xiaomi models that have been updated to Android 12

The protagonist of the Google I / O 2021 was undoubtedly the announcement of Android 12 and among the early adopters, we also find Xiaomi. Together with OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, iQOO, ASUS, and TCL, Lei Jun’s company has started its Beta Testing program in order to pave the way for a stable release. It will take some time before Google’s major update will appear on the first smartphones, starting with the Google Pixel family in autumn 2021. As for the Xiaomi catalog, we will talk about it again between 2021 and 2022, when the new version of the Big G’s green robot will expand. Until that time, let’s make a recap of the news that will be added and on which smartphone models we will see them.

The main novelty of Android 12, which is not said we will see on Xiaomi smartphones, is called Material You. Google’s new aesthetic language will replace the current Material Design, giving greater wealth in terms of customization. With the update will come new color management, being able to color the whole UI also based on the colors of the backgrounds used. Based on the image chosen, the user can make all the elements of the interface adapt: icons, widgets, notifications, menus and so on.

Aesthetic changes that also include new widgets and animations, aiming to have greater fluidity and visual coherence. The lock screen is also modified, with a new widget for the clock, with changes also for notifications and Quick Settings. However, when it comes to changes to the look of Android, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will do the same, since the graphics depend on MIUI.

With Android 12, Google has decided to improve privacy and security , starting with the implementation of the Privacy Dashboard. From here it will be possible to check the management of permissions by the installed apps, thus being able to understand what data they get their hands on. Most importantly, an indicator for the microphone and camera has been included: when either of them is used, an icon will appear at the top of the screen. Furthermore, it will be possible to use disguised geolocation , a feature that is actually already present in MIUI.

Android 12 arm in arm with MIUI 13?

It is not yet known whether the update to Android 12 by Xiaomi will coincide with the release of MIUI 13. Apart from the hoaxes that appeared on the net, we do not yet know when the major update of MIUI will start. Without considering that the release of MIUI 12.5 has interrupted the ordinary cadence since for the first time an intermediate update has been announced. However, it is plausible that MIUI 13 will arrive in the early months of 2022, therefore this possibility cannot be excluded.

When will Android 12 arrive?

An official date is still missing, but usually, the release of Android 12 by Google starts with the announcement of the Pixel family. The Google Pixel 6 series will probably also arrive in September / October 2021, so we expect that to be the period for the first roll-out. But let’s remember that other manufacturers are almost never so responsive and it is very likely that it will have to wait until Q1 2022 to see the very first updates.

Which Xiaomi will update to Android 12?

There are still several months before the official Android 12 will be made public and for this reason, there is still no official roadmap. I want to emphasize this because I would not want you to take this list that I am about to give you as certain, and then maybe complain about it. However, know that I have compiled it on the basis of the updated policy that Xiaomi usually has. Obviously, it will update it over time, when other models will be announced but above all when Xiaomi will pronounce it.
