According to MSPoweruser reports, since January this year, YouTube has been used as a PWA. Google is currently conducting a YouTube experiment to allow users with YouTube premium subscriptions to download YouTube videos on ChromeOS and perform Watch offline.
The YouTube experiment does not necessarily mean that the feature will eventually be launched, but according to ChromeUnboxed, according to a case study published by the company, Google seems to be quite enthusiastic about this feature.
Google wrote in the case study:
“Watching videos offline on laptops and hybrid devices is one of the top features requested by YouTube Premium users, and the YouTube team has heard great feedback about the offline experience. With the new PWA, YouTube Premium users can access their favorites without interruption Content-even if they are on the go. Users can download the latest videos of their favorite creators and watch them on their Chromebooks on airplanes, cafes, or wherever there may not be a stable Internet connection.
And now, PWA is quickly becoming the main position for Chromebook users to get YouTube content. ”
The download video feature experiment will end on December 10, but Google advertised it in a case study, indicating that it may eventually be permanent.
“We plan to improve the standard of offline capability checking. PWAs that do not provide at least a basic offline experience will not display installation prompts.”
