Google bans all medical mask ads

The spread of the new Coronavirus in the United States, medical mask advertisements have begun to spread on the United States Internet, but Google temporarily banned such advertisements.

“For the sake of caution, we have decided to temporarily ban all medical mask advertisements,” a Google spokesman said in a statement. “We are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to take action to protect users as needed.”

Google’s restrictions currently apply only to masks. They do not apply to advertisements for other products that protect against disease, such as protective clothing and disinfectants, which have also been heavily used in recent weeks. Google said it was “continuing to evaluate” whether the ban should apply to other products and said it would take “a few days” to remove existing mask ads, meaning users might still see them in the coming days.

This latest policy change comes at a time when Google Platform has a lot of misinformation due to the new crown epidemic. The virus has killed more than 4,200 people worldwide and infected at least 118,000 people.

Medical experts are trying to warn healthy people not to buy masks to avoid a shortage of medical supplies. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also stated that there is no evidence to support the prevention of wearing masks.

It was reported last week that despite Google ’s policy prohibiting the use of the New Coronavirus epidemic to advertise, the company still showed some ads and sponsored shopping lists that clearly promised to prevent the New Crown virus.

The company said the new mask ban is broader, and even if the product does not specifically mention new Coronavirus, it will still be bound by this policy. This policy applies to Google’s “shopping” list, which the company claims is “based on a combination of advertiser bids and relevance, such as your current search terms and activities.”

Facebook had previously announced a temporary ban on ads and commercial listings of medical masks on Friday.
