Apple watchOS 7 supports Apple Watch local running shortcut commands

After the official version of watchOS 7 is released this fall, Apple Watch clients will have the option to run alternate way orders on the Apple Watch without interfacing the iPhone, in this manner significantly extending the elements of the watch.

Shortcut commands on Apple Watch are expected to provide powerful one-click triggers for complex operations, such as running Apple Music playlists, controlling HomeKit devices, requesting Siri processes, and more. Many of these features will be used on Apple’s wearables for the first time through watchOS 7. On Monday, Apple announced support for the Siri shortcut command for watchOS, although Apple failed to elaborate on how this feature works. Specifically, it is not clear whether the shortcut command will be provided as an independent local operation on the Apple Watch or as a remote trigger when bound to the iPhone.

Apple answered this question at the developer conference on Friday and pointed out that the Watch can run shortcut commands locally without connecting the iPhone.

There are a few elements in the handling of easy shortcut commands. Initially, consider the types of shortcut commands. On the off chance that the activity is NSUserActivity, watchOS 7 will locate the running host application. Missing the application will cause a mistake message to show up. Similarly, shortcut commands orders are planned to be handled locally on the Watch through application extensions, or remotely on iPhones as a backup.

The new shortcut command application provides users with the function of synchronizing between iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS via iCloud. In watchOS 7, shortcut commands can also be used as complex functions for watch faces.
