Apple has finally come up with the winners of the third Apple Music Awards, which aims to recognize the “best artists of 2021 and their impact on global culture.”

The award recognizes music achievements in five categories, and the selection process of the winners reflects both the editorial views of Apple Music and the content most frequently listened to by customers around the world.

Apple named the Weeknd the Global Artist of the Year, and Olivia Rodrigo is the Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Rodrigo also won the Album of the Year Award for his first album “SOUR” and the Singles of the Year Award for “drivers license”. The Composer of the Year Award was awarded to HER, a multi-instrument player, especially for her 21-track R&B album “Back of My Mind”.

This year, the Apple Music Awards also introduced a new category, the Regional Artist of the Year Award, which recognizes artists from five countries and regions. Africa, France, Germany, Japan and Russia.

“The past 12 months have proven to be an extraordinary year for the music industry, and we are happy to pay tribute to the artists who have shaped the culture on Apple Music and connected with fans around the world,” Oliver, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats Schusser said, “This year we also honoured more regional artists and showed the world the influence of extraordinary talented musicians who have made waves on a global scale.”

Apple Music Awards celebrations kicked off on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Interviews, original content, etc. were all broadcasted globally on Apple Music and Apple TV apps.
