After coronavirus outbreak Apple accelerates development of new MacBook models

Apple has accelerated the development of new MacBook models after the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia, Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in his latest report published on Thursday.

He believes that, compared with general consumer electronics, because MacBook’s demand is more stable, demand is limited by the new coronavirus pneumonia.

He said that the MacBook supply chain is expected to resume work in late March, and new products are expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2020, so suppliers ’revenue and profits from MacBook in the second quarter of 2020 will be significantly higher than the previous year increase.

In the report, Kuo maintained its forecast that the 2020 new MacBook will all adopt the scissor keyboard but revised the supply share of component manufacturers and updated the shipment schedule of new products.

He expects the new MacBook models to ship as follows:

(1) 2Q20 launched the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, which are optimized for cost structure, but users do not feel the difference.

(2) 4Q20–1Q21 launched MacBook models using Apple’s own processors.

(3) 2Q–3Q21 launched a new design of MacBook models.
